Born at Santhekallahalli, Chintamani Taluk, Venugopal had his early education in Santhekallahalli and Chintamani, and college education in Bangalore and Mysore.

After obtaining a post graduate degree from Mysore University, he joined Visveswarapura College of Arts, Science and commerce, Bangalore.  During his stay here, he wrote several books in Chemistry for PU, B.Sc and BE students. His unpublished research work was Nuclear and Aero space Metals –The IndianScienario under the guidance of Prof. C.V. Sundaram, the then Director, Indira Gandhi Centre for Atomic Research (IGCAR), Kalpakkam, Tamil Nadu.

After retirement he relocated to village and has been involved in social work.  He is the President of the Trust, Antharaganga SevaPrathistana (Regd) has also been writing and publishing books, many of them are in Kannada.
